•The intention of the clinic is to teach the fundamentals of being a good baseball player and to teach the fundamentals of Hitting and Pitching. It is also an opportunity to teach teamwork, sportsmanship, effort and unity, and to give young baseball players exposure to professional baseball players.
•Everyone is asked to have all their baseball equipment. They will need gloves, bats, turf shoes (NO cleats) and helmets. We also expect each camper to bring to the camp a great attitude and a willingness to learn.

Heat Baseball Academy is a full service year-round baseball/softball training facility located in Hickory, North Carolina. One of the Academy's primary goals is to provide the best in professional hitting, pitching, and catching instruction. We have compiled a staff of some of the finest skill coaches in the area. We offer private, semi-private, small group and team instruction to players of all ages and abilities. Heat Baseball Academy also offers seasonal clinics, summer baseball camps, and Showcase teams.
In addition to Heat Baseball Academy's instructional programs, we provide individuals and teams with a facility where they can practice their hitting and pitching skills. We also offer a cost effective hitting membership program that is perfect for individuals who use our batting cages often.
We are the leaders in Western North Carolina providing professional baseball/softball instruction to students of all ages. Our goal, moving forward -- to offer the best in baseball instruction for players of all levels, while also providing a first class training facility for individuals and teams.

Matt Payne is a 2008 graduate of NC State University with a B.S. in sports management. A four-year letterman in baseball at NC State, Payne pitched and played both outfield and third base prior to being drafted by the Pittsburg Pirates in the 34th round of the 2008 MLB draft.
During his career at NC State, Payne earned second team All-ACC honors, hitting .412 in ACC play, 3rd best in the conference, and finishing overall 3rd in hits and 5th in total bases. After leading the team in homeruns and RBIs his senior year, he was voted NC Stat Baseball Team MVP. Following an outstanding season, the Wolfpack earned the right to host a NCAA regional in which they defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks, winning the regional with Payne being named to the NCAA Raleigh Regional All-Tournament Team.
Payne played professional baseball two years in the Pirates organization and currently serves as an associate scout.
